Mrs. Altis is a central Illinois native, but has lived and served in parochial schools in Missouri, Chicago, and Wisconsin.  She attended Concordia Ann Arbor (AA) and graduated from Concordia River Forest. She has been serving at St. Paul since 2004.  She currently teaches first grade and lower grade music.

No matter what question I ask my first graders, someone nearly always pipes up with the answer "Jesus!"  While this may not be the exact answer I'm looking for in a math equation, for most other questions, Jesus is the only right answer!  As I point my students to Jesus in reading writing, and even math, we connect with each other as we focus on Him.  I love to “Dive Into God’s Word” by letting my Bible fall open and listening to Him speak!

My husband Marv and I have two grown children and four grandchildren.  After many year of teaching preschool through eighth graders, I still look forward to coming to school each day and learning from my students.  In addition to my teaching duties I enjoy playing organ, swimming and reading.  My most exciting summer activity was walking in the footsteps of Luther via a trip to Germany.
